Breaks U: The Aftermath

Columbia University... and Breakdancing??? WTF? or FTW? When you think of breaking it's a huge rarity to find good breakdancers at high level institutions not because of intelligence level but mostly because good breakdancers put a lot of time and effort into their craft, where as "smart people" spend more time in the library, which on a side note brings into question just how "smart" they are....

So for the last month, YS, Lil' Eagle, and Myself have been training for this event which essentially puts all the schools against each other. Kid Bowser woulda joined us but he made a promise to do his Philips Exeter thing at the event. But anyways, we paired up w/ two alums, Seoul Sonyk and Bounce, and we went in thinking ok lets just have fun and do whatever, since we thought most schools probably had better teams like NYU, MIT, Cornell, etc cuz they all had reps.

We get there... and I'm not gonna lie... it was kinda sad...

Let me go through my thought process for each school I saw:
Harvard: Mad noobage, aparently just started the club so I can't fault them
MIT: They had two squads, I think squad 2 was better than squad 1 funny enough
NYU: They held it down, thought there woulda been more Florox people since NYU is invaded by Florox but to my surprise, none what so ever...
BMCC: Pretty much the actual Foot Clan Crew mixed w/ Gravity... go figure
LaGuardia: Another way of saying Supreme Beings... sigh I wish I went to a high school like that...
UMass-Amhearst: They came out strong, not too much flava but they were smooth, very surprising
Johns Hopkins: Um... yeah...
Carnegie Mellon: Now here's a school w/ some talent, even had a girl who could smoke any of the guys on her team, like WOW

Anyways, back to us, we get pit against Farmingdale/Brooklyn Law which is pretty much all our friends: Lilfoot, Chem, and Yuki so it was a fun battle, I think one of the best ones of the first round

Now we're sitting tight because they're only going to take the top 8 crews out of 32, so I'm watching these crews thinking we're just on the fringe of not making it... and we're all praying.

And then... WE GOT IN!!! We were HYPE to the point where we said we were just gonna go all out on the next battle, which in retrospect was probably a bad idea, but it was more fun that way.

We mad it through but we did so terribly in the Semi-Finals, I kinda just don't want to post the footage. It's also because we faced Laguardia aka Supreme Beings so... yeah... I mean we held our own but they were just better.

So overall a very good jam, can't believe how far we made it, so now it's back to the lab.
